Given this, the 46-look’s presented took on a format similar to Charles Dicken’s novel A Christmas Carol. Per the collections show notes, the team wanted to ensure viewers realize that despite the event marking their runway debut, this endeavor was indeed their 7th ensemble to date. Each founding member of the brand has an Asian heritage where China, Korea, and Vietnam are represented with pride. Well, at least that is what they hoped to show. For Peter Do and his team, their debut offering for their New York-based label reflected on the celebratory relationship of their immigrant status and the place they call home- New York City. As a first-year, we had a Company 101 class every other morning that consisted mostly of stretching and sharpening techniques. It seemed like our Artistic Director, Leon Basa, wanted that for Bucky. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ran this place one day. He assisted in choreographing, training, and observing newer members. Bucky was regarded as a real professional and real expert in the ballet field. This was his fourth year with, The Manhattan Area for Dance MAD for short. Watched in on some (a lot) of my practices or classes we were afforded in the company to work on specific moves.
